Despite claims to the contrary, gender-affirming healthcare began in the late 19th century, and has continued (in various forms) through today. This includes awareness of the existence of depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem in children, adolescents, and adults as a result of incongruence between self-identity, and the gender role they were assigned at birth (known clinically as ‘gender dysphoria‘).

Medical intervention including pubertal suppression (“blockers”); gender-affirming hormones (GAH); gender-affirming surgeries (GAS); and other types of treatment are approved by every reputable medical organization in the United States and throughout the world.
