We therefore try to minimize the personal information we collect and avoid requesting sensitive information unless it is genuinely needed.

In practice:

• We do not require you to disclose your gender identity, transgender status, legal name, or medical information to use this website.
• If you voluntarily share sensitive information in a message, we treat it as private information and limit access to people who need it to respond.
• We do not use sensitive personal information shared in private correspondence for marketing.
• We do not sell personal information.

We may collect information you choose to provide, such as:

Information submitted through website forms may be stored within our WordPress website and may also be delivered to us by email.

Our website is hosted on WordPress.com and uses services provided by Automattic and Jetpack.

These services may automatically process technical information associated with visits to the website, such as:

• Referring website
• Pages or URLs visited

• Approximate geographic location derived from an IP address
• Information related to website security, performance, and interactions

The specific information processed depends on the WordPress.com and Jetpack features in use.

3. Jetpack Stats

We use Jetpack Stats to understand aggregate website traffic and how visitors use Burleton Education content.

Jetpack Stats may process information such as:

Burleton Education receives aggregate statistics through this feature. We do not receive visitor IP addresses, WordPress.com usernames, or other personally identifying visitor-level information through the Jetpack Stats dashboard.

Automattic states that Jetpack Stats logs containing identifiable information are retained for 28 days for the purpose of operating the Stats service.

Burleton Education does not currently use Google Analytics.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Burleton Education does not directly process Patreon or Substack subscription payments through this website.

Paid and free subscriptions may be managed through:

• Patreon
• Substack

When you use those services, information you provide to them—including payment information where applicable—is processed under their own privacy policies, terms, and security practices.

Depending on the service and your account settings, Burleton Education may receive limited subscriber information such as your display name, email address, membership or subscription status, or subscription tier.

5. Professional, Training, and Consultation Inquiries

Burleton Education may receive inquiries from clinicians, care teams, educators, businesses, community groups, and other professionals seeking consultation, training, or educational services.

If you contact us in a professional capacity, please do not send protected health information (PHI), medical records, or identifiable patient or client information.

Training and consultation needs can generally be discussed using non-identifying descriptions such as “adolescent patient population,” “school staff training,” or “workplace policy consultation.”

Professional correspondence is used to respond to your inquiry, provide requested services, communicate about those services, and maintain appropriate business records.

This website is hosted on WordPress.com, which is operated by Automattic.

WordPress.com, Jetpack, and related website-security services may process limited technical information necessary to:

• Filter spam
• Maintain logs and troubleshoot technical problems
• Provide aggregate website statistics

No online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We use reasonable administrative and technical measures available through our website platform and service providers to reduce foreseeable privacy and security risks.

9. Cookies, Browser Storage, and Similar Technologies

WordPress.com, Jetpack, and other services used by this website may use cookies, local storage, pixels, or similar technologies for website operation, security, preferences, and measurement.

The technologies used may change depending on website features and services.

Jetpack Stats

Jetpack Stats provides aggregate traffic measurement. Burleton Education does not use Google Analytics at this time.

Embedded YouTube Content

Where YouTube videos are embedded directly on Burleton Education, we configure them where practical using YouTube Privacy-Enhanced Mode, which uses the youtube-nocookie.com domain.

Privacy-Enhanced Mode limits the use of embedded-video viewing activity for personalization. YouTube may nevertheless receive technical information when an embedded player loads or is used, and YouTube’s own privacy practices apply to its services.

Following a link from an embedded video to YouTube or another external service takes you outside Burleton Education and may result in additional data collection by that service.

Browser Controls

Most browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies and other stored website data. Blocking certain technologies may affect some website features.

If Burleton Education materially changes its use of non-essential analytics, advertising, or tracking technologies, this Privacy Statement will be updated and additional consent controls will be implemented where required by applicable law.

If you choose to share information that could create privacy or safety concerns—including transgender status, gender identity, information about a child or teen, family circumstances, or care-related concerns—please consider how and where you communicate with us.

Email and website forms are not the same as end-to-end encrypted communication.

If greater privacy is needed after initial contact has been established, continued private communication may be arranged using Signal, a free, open-source service providing end-to-end encrypted messaging.

11. Children and Youth Privacy

Burleton Education provides educational information that may be useful to families, professionals, and young people, but the website is intended primarily as a general educational resource and for adults seeking information, training, consultation, or support resources.

We do not knowingly solicit personal information directly from children under 13.

If we learn that a child under 13 has submitted personal information without appropriate parent or guardian authorization, we will take reasonable steps to review and delete that information as appropriate.

If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information to Burleton Education, please contact us so we can review and address it.

Parents and caregivers contacting us about a young person should consider the privacy of shared computers, phones, browsers, and email accounts.

If contacting Burleton Education could create a safety concern, you may request a safer communication approach.
