What is Mythology?
Before the advent of the scientific method, human beings created mythologies to explain natural phenomena, and things that were mysterious to them. Myths and mythologies were early attempts at establishing causal factors behind observed events:
- Where does the sun come from in the morning?
- Where does the sun go at night?
- Why am I here, and how did I get here?
- Why am I different from others of my kind?

Mythology is often 'elevated' to the status of being a religion.
It continues to exist as a religion until a new set of mythological beliefs replaces it. At that point, it is once again either demoted to being nothing more than ‘mythology’, or it’s treated as a precursor to the new, improved, ‘perfected’ religious doctrine.
