Signal App (optional)

FOR ENCRYPTED COMMUNICATION

Using Signal is beneficial for secure communication with Burleton Education because messages and calls are end-to-end encrypted by default, meaning only you and the Burleton Education staff member you’re speaking with can read or hear them—not your carrier, Wi-Fi operator, or a service provider in the middle. It also offers privacy-forward features like disappearing messages (after 1 hour), screen lock options, minimal data collection, and safety number verification to help confirm you’re chatting with the right person, making it Burleton Education’s choice for confidential personal, professional, or advocacy-related conversations.

If you are not already a Signal user, you can follow the instructions below to download the app.

  1. Download Signal Private Messenger, install it, then open it, and register with your phone number by entering the verification code Signal provides you with via a text message or phone call.
(Both phone and desktop versions of the app can be safely downloaded from Signal’s official download page.
  2. Set your profile name and (recommended) create a username in Settings → Profile so you can share an ID without sharing your phone number.
  3. To privately share your Signal ID with Burleton Education, open Signal Settings → Profile, copy your username (or use your QR code), and send it to us using a secure channel you already trust (for example, a direct Signal message to our confirmed Signal account, which a staff member can provider you with, or by a private email/DM).
